Objectives of the Island Lake Tribal Council
- Facilitate the Leadership of each of the Island Lake Lake Tribal Council Communities in all areas of development.
- Work with the First Nations Administration Staff and bring in resources at various levels to straighten their skills and knowledge.
- Be involved in the standards of First Nations Government.
- Be involved in familiarizing itself with the Indian Act and the General by-laws in community use.
- Deal with the regional concepts of social and economic development so the the regional priorities can be identified and that the resources can be applied for the maximum benefit of the First Nation in community.
- Ensure that Federal Government and the Membership and responsibilities and obligations towards Member First Nations are carried out.
- Ensure that Federal Government honor and respect the existing trust relationship between the Federal Government and the Membership of the Tribal Council.
- Work in Conjunction with and within the stated objectives of the Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak inc . (MKO), Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs (AMC) & Assembly of First Nations (AFN)
