Island Lake transportation services to registered Indian status members from the Island Lake region.  May 2021 marked the 10th anniversary of this service. Past complaints/incidents including language barriers with other service providers played a major role in establishing this organization. From its inception, ILMTS has hired a majority of employees from the Island Lake area and will continue to accept resumes to employ individuals from that region who struggle to find meaningful employment in the city.  Utilizes 4 Dodge Caravans and a new Ram Prom aster wheelchair accessible van. These vehicles are scheduled with the bulk of the transports occurring from 6 am to 4 pm during weekdays. As medical appointment returns slow down in the afternoon, 2 to 3 vehicles are utilized to cover the late afternoon and evening shifts. An overnight driver then takes over from 10 pm to 6 am.  For the weekend, usually 2 to 3 vehicles are used per day with an on-call driver available for overflow. We have recently renewed contract hires from Spring Taxi to tackle overflow traffic to minimize grievances and late pick-ups.  Any given day that puts the service under fire for longer than usual wait times. It is during those busy times that dispatch resorts to using extra employee personal vehicles. Other instances where traffic is not under our control include flight cancellations due to bad weather.  Elderly, individuals on major surgery recovery, and other urgent patient scenarios. Side trips such as prescription pickups are unauthorized except under certain circumstances.
